Panic in the streets of Vancouver

It's a snowstorm!! Everybody stay indoors! Keep off the roads! Stock up on candles and batteries!! Close your curtains and blinds! Don't talk to strangers!!

UP TO FIVE TO TEN CENTIMETRES ARE EXPECTED! *shrieks of horror*

(Yes, Craig, you may now laugh until you cry.)

I know people who are calling in sick tomorrow.

Me, it's my work-at-home day... I don't have to worry about it. *yawn*

Do like Jaap used to do when he lived in Vancouver when it snowed...go to a coffee shop on a hill, get a nice hot cup of something (presumably the water is fit to drink now) and sit back and be amused by the chaos.

And I did laugh, but it's -30 or so with windchill here, so I can't laugh too hard.

This sucks. I'm actually sick, so I won't be able to go out in the snow, or to work, tomorrow. At least the kids and I got some sledding in today before I developed a fever.

someone at my work had to wait an hour for a skytrain today. he eventually gave up and is working from home.

Someone this morning reminded me that there are a lot of homeless people living in this city who could use some help. they are not prepared to deal with this kind of weather. And I heard that shelters are having a hard time, too.
