My cousin works for Austin Carpet Cleaning and he showed me a vacuum once hat was so strong it almost got a nail out of a wooden board. The nail was inserted just enough to be stable.

In response to: A few Vancouver singer/songwriters

nicol lischka` [Visitor] · http://www.myspace.com/nicollischka
Well hello - you seem like you have your finger on the pulse here and perhaps can lend a girl a helping hand :)

I have been in Vancouver since last September and would love to get out and start playing some gigs. I'm looking for solid players who can play for the songs - drummer, bass player, keyboards or some combination therof. i play acoustic rhythm and my bf can play either bass or keys. a sampling of my songs can be heard on my myspace page. we are covering those songs, as well as a dozen originals that we have cowritten since i moved here, and perhaps another handful of covers (angus & julia stone, tom wilson, luke doucet, steve earle, etc.). we have a really cool thing going here and with the right players, it will be a band/sound to be reckoned with. i'll need to nail down venues for us after we get the band together, but lets take this one foot at a time.

your thoughts would be appreciated.

In response to: The sequencer debate: ProTools vs. Cubase

Mike [Visitor]
1. Beeing industrie Standard is irrelevant for 90% of the home-daw-users!
2. Sound is not made by a software, they might have different anti-aliasing and oversampling, get a good soundcard or usb/fw device and your all good
3. I've been using Protools more than 15 years and switched to cubase for the following reasons:

- PT-LE/M-Powered has a poor performance, you get less tracks, fx and virtual instruments on the same hardware than with cubase
- user interface of PT feels slow and sluggish, even on a MacPro or G5
- most of my clients use cubase

just my 2cents :-)

don't worry too much about daw's make more music!

Thanks! This worked perfectly for me.

I had so many issues with theming a drupal site to display properly in IE6 that I created a separate stylesheet conditional on an IE6 user agent so everyone else wouldn't have to suffer because of the select few who stubbornly persist in using an antiquated browser.

Kirsten, in Feb '09 I picked-up a property agent's catalogue and there was an incredibly moving photograph (in black and white) on the back of the magazine. No details, nothing, just the picture. It stuck with me and I continued to think about the man and his dog. Not knowing whatever happened to them or whether this had been a posed picture, I eventually started searching the internet and the picture that will stay with me for the rest of my life, was this one, your photograph. Thank you for adding something special to my life and at least now it seems to have had a happy ending.

Hi, I am from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and I believe Farmers Dairy made them but stopped years ago, I don't know why. Now all these years later I am partaking in a 200 item non profit scavenger hunt and the hardest item to find is a buried treasure stick. Please email me at oscarnpotter@hotmail.com if you can assist me.

Thank you in Advance.

Kristen,

I found your remarkable photo on the web while doing a search on homelessness. I live in San Francisco and am currently in graduate school for fine art painting. I'm wondering if you would allow me to use your homeless man and dog image as a reference for an upcoming school project. Your photo is so captivating and I'm a pretty terrible photographer. (Photography class will be next semester.) I would sincerely appreciate the opportunity.

I don't anticipate that my work would sell as a result. But in the event that it does, I would gladly send you 50% of proceeds.

Thanks for considering it.

In response to: Hunting for Buried Treasure

Joe [Visitor]
I'm from upstate New York and Buried Treasure and Creamsicles were my favorites. I used to love the sports figures. Most people I talk to have no idea what I'm talking about when I try to describe Buried Treasure to them. I had pretty much forgotten about them myself until 1996 when I was exploring different sorbets (cruel twist of fate--lactose intolerance for an ice cream lover). I tried 'Ben & Jerry's Doonesberry Sorbet' and its' blueberry-raspberry flavor brought me right back! It tasted exactly like Buried Treasure. Unfortunately, they let go of the flavor when Ben & Jerry sold out. Recently, the new company has offered their own version called 'Berried Treasure' but it's not the same. Oh well....

In response to: New site launched today for Morris Amps

Tone Boy [Visitor]
By far the best sounding amps (& cabinets) made anywhere. If these were being made in New York, they would be world famous. Definitely the stuff of legend. Granted, it may take a little bit to gather the scratch for one of these masterpieces; perfection, however, is not something that comes cheap, or can be rushed. But, compare the prices with some of the other boutique amps and the Morris doesn't look too bad.
