Interesting referrer today.

Somebody seems to be compiling a list of female Vancouver bloggers (and a few male - hey Darren, that's you) to approach for... some commercial venture...?

Psst! ....WE CAN TELL IF YOU LINK TO US.

Lucky for me, my blog wasn't the one described as "Another girls [sic] who yammers on about this and that, and not much substance. Perfect." That might have been more criticism than I could take in a week.

UPDATE:

I've removed the links as the page in question is now gone. The author of the page wrote me a lengthy embarrassed apology. He was helping his girlfriend organize a wedding fair, and hoping to get some bloggers on board to talk about the event - but accidentally put it on his public server rather than a private LAN server. Links were clicked, and hijinks ensued. But like a good sitcom, everything and everyone is back to normal now, and there's a good ol' moral to the story that we can all learn from. Whee!

I noticed that too, somebody's stalker tendencies manifesting?

Well, they're fixated on high technorati ratings - my bet is they want to get a popular blogger to write for them, be a sort of spokesperson. For example, Krug "prolly dosen't [sic] get the readers we want".

Heh, interesting. Maybe they know that we'll follow links and the whole thing is a clever viral marketing campaign? I'm probably giving them too much credit.

Don't know if you followed the footer link on that sign-in page - it goes to an 'Indie Wedding Show'.

The domain www.cornfakes.com was registered earlier this year, but doesn't provide much in the way of useful details:

If it is about weddings, then I'm totally a target, I complain about them periodically.

Funny and strange.

I guess I am "a little tree huggy".

I searched the URL in Google and apparently according to the cache, there are other "bookmarks" in different folders. Perhaps it is attempting to be a social bookmakring websie?

Just left a comment at So Misguided too. I got a hit from there last night, it's pretty strange. Looks like they just described me based on my 'About' page write up :p

Interesting that they didn't bother passwording that comment page. But of course if you start linking to them you're giving them Google juice, unless you use the rel="nofollow" tag. And they're missing out some potential good blogs and podcasts, which I'd be happy to tell them about if they approached things openly...

I don't think it was meant to be public - because they seem to be evaluating everybody for some unstated purpose. So I doubt I'm helping them by giving them hits. If anything, now that their cover is blown, they may have a harder time convincing one of us to blog for... whatever this is. ;)

Oh, and I DON'T live in Burnaby. The FIRST FIVE WORDS in my sidebar, after the title, are "Kirsten Bole lives in Vancouver"... So they're obviously reading these things REAL close.

yeah, like give 'em hits from your feed! there's a shortlist of Van blogg-chik's?
I love the fact that we've got a great, articulate collection of individual voices here!

With how many other artistic voices we have, how can we not want to "turn up the pretty."

Really sorry, but new comments have been disabled because the spammers have ruined it for everyone. I don't maintain this blog any more and almost all the comments I get are people trying to sneak in links to their products. If you really genuinely have something you need to say to me personally, email me at kirsten --AT-- crowstoburnaby dot com.
